In case you don't know: On Wednesday, Muhammadu Buhari won the presidential primaries of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

2. Understanding of loss
Fayemi lost the Ekiti Governorship election as an incumbent governor, he knows the true taste of defeat. Buhari has suffered public defeat severally, he needs to align himself with a man who understands that hurt.
3. Experience
As a former Governor, Fayemi is well grounded in Governance. He is the right man to help brush up Buhari's archaic skills which were last tested in the 80's.
4. Religious inclination
Whether Buhari admits it or not, he needs a Christian as a running mate. The volatile nature of Nigerian politics will not permit a Muslim-Muslim ticket in 2015 plus Buhari is considered an Islamic extremist in certain circles. Fayemi is a christian; a perfect fit for Buhari. The former Ekiti Governor can help soften Buhari's Islamist image.
