Nigeria - The new director general of the Department of State Security, Lawal Musa Daura, has demoted Marilyn Ogar, the agency’s former spokesperson.

He has also suspended promotions done this year in the Service which were approved by former President Goodluck Jonathan, Naij reports.

Even though promotions are supposed to have been done at the end of the year, Ogar and 44 others were promoted last March, although their promotions were not made public until May.

Marylyn Ogar had been a controversial figure at the DSS and many believe her promotion was a reward for the many "dirty activities" she performed for the past government,

She'd also gotten an approval to proceed on a three years study leave during the tenure of the former DG, Ita Ekpeyong.

She has been asked to return to the country immediately.
