LOL, No, Seriously, This is ACTUALLY the Fastest Bicycle On Earth

This picture reminds me of several things. A white-and-blue antibiotic capsule. A USB dongle. A futuristic handheld gadget. Viagra…or something.

There’s one thing it ABSOLUTELY DOESN’T remind me of, and that’s a bicycle.

But that’s EXACTLY what it is. A bicycle, that is.

The inventors of this bicycle say their streamlined machine is on its way to the World History books because it’ll be able to travel at 90mph.

Even though this bicycle is encased in an aerodynamic shell and even though you’re looking at this photo and wondering how the hell am I supposed to steer this thing? the inventors say this baby has a camera and a computer monitor which allow the rider see their way as they zoom across the Nevada desert in pursuit of the world speed record for pedal-powered bikes.

Ben Hogan, 22, one of the student designers, is pretty confident that they will smash the 83.1mph fastest time set by a Dutch team in 2012.

He says, “The project is no simple undertaking but, at this stage, just six months in, we are in a great position.”
