2014 has been an interesting year. As with every other pre-election year, there has been a lot of political drama this year. NIGERIAN BULLETIN will take you through the 14 of the most scandalous events that rocked the polity.

1. $20billion oil money scandal

In October 2013, Mallam Sanusi Lamido, then Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria now Emir of Kano raised alarm that $49.8 billion was missing from the federation account. By January 2014, the CBN governor switched tone and said the missing amount was $20billion.

2. Suspension of CBN Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi

Fed up with Sanusi’s whistle blowing, President Goodluck Jonathan handed him a suspension and the SSS seized his travel documents. It became quite a scandal as Sanusi headed to court to fight his suspension and the All Progressives Congress, APC lined up behind him.

6. Incumbent Governor Fayemi loses Ekiti gubernatorial elections

Trouble maker, Ayo Fayose defeated incumbent Governor Kayode Fayemi to clinch the Ekiti Governor seat. The election was characterized by propaganda as the opposition found it difficult to accept the defeat of Fayemi, who had earlier won the election on social media.

The Nigerian Police Force attempted to stop embattled speaker of the house of representatives, Aminu Tambuwal and his supporters from entering the National Assembly complex. The lawmakers revolted and took to gate climbing.
