16 Rivers state governorship aspirants on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP have called on the party to disqualify, former minister of state for Education, Nyesom Wike, from the gubernatorial race.

The 16 aspirants which included Bekinbo Dagogo-Jack, Dumo Lulu-Briggs, Lancelot Anyaya, Sampson Ngeregba, Nimi Walson-Jack, Lee Maeba, Abie Bob-Hart, Gabriel Pidomson,Silva Opusonji, Benard Mikko, Pawwariso Horsfall, Dennis Ojuka, Tonye Princewill, Nwakwo Sunday, Don Baridam and Tamunosisi Gogo-Jaja, yesterday protested in Abuja.

According to NIGERIAN TRIBUNE, coordinator of Rivers Mainstream Coalition, Professor Israel Owate, who spoke on behalf of the aspirants during the protest said, "The right thing must be done. We foresaw the war and started quite early to raise the alarm over this. Court will be the last resort but we have to exhaust every available option and we don’t even think going to court is necessary because this is a family affair.

The 16 aspirants urged President Goodluck Jonathan to intervene in the crisis.
