As those interested in running as governors are getting set to declare their ambitions, Daily Trust has learnt that no less than seven Secretaries to State Governments (SSGs) are interested in stepping into the shoes of their principals.

The seven are from the 18 states which governors are serving their second terms and are certain to leave office in 2015. Investigations by our correspondents, however, show that none of the governors in their first terms are being challenged by their SSG’s.

The SSG’s warming up to run in 2015 include that of Akwa Ibom, Emmanuel Udom, that of Kano, Alhaji Rabiu Suleiman Bichi, that of Plateau, Prof. Shedrack Best, that of Bauchi, Ahmed Ibrahim Dandija, that of Abia, Mkpa Agu Mkpa and that of Jigawa, Alhaji Abdul Babura. That of Cross Rivers State is the immediate past SSG, Ntufam Fidelis Ugbo, who is now at the National Planning Commission.
