Sports 41-year old Thomas Tuchel to replace Jurgen Klopp as Dortmund manager

Borussia Dortmund have announced that it has reached an agreement with Thomas Tuchel to replace Jurgen Klopp, who gave up on his ambition of taking the 2013 Bundesliga champions forward.

Klopp, who joined Dortmund in 2008 revealed last Wednesday that he would be leaving Dortmund at the end of the season, saying he no longer felt he was the right man to take them forward.

The 48-year old has performed below standard, ranking 8th on the bundesliga table, with the team that finished the league 2nd last year, and also reached the final of the champions league in 2013.

"The eight-time German champions Borussia Dortmund have appointed Thomas Tuchel as their new coach from July 1, 2015. The 41-year-old will receive a three-year contract."

Meanwhile, Tuchel, who will be replacing Klopp at the end of this season also took charge of Mainz a year after Klopp left the club to join Dortmund in 2008.

"Borussia Dortmund will present Thomas Tuchel officially in the week after the end of the season. BVB ask for understanding that there will be no comments made from anybody concerned at this time."

Tuchel, who has been linked with a premier league side, Newcastle United led Mainz to two Europa League qualifications and their highest-ever Bundesliga placing before standing down last summer. has been out of work for a season having taken a break from the game. Skysport
