Sports - Amodu To Players - Pull Out Of Eagles If You Can't Play On Artificial pitches

Interim Super Eagles coach Amodu Shaibu has warned players who don't want to play on artificial turf to stay away from Nigeria's 2015 African Nations Cup qualifiers.

Nigeria will next month play the last two of the qualifiers, starting with the game against Congo, which will be played on an artificial pitch in Brazzaville.

And Nigeria needing the vital win to build on their chances of qualifying for next year's tournament, Amodu has said that no player will be forced to play on an artificial pitch.

"I know some players don't like playing on synthetic pitch. I am calling on any player who knows he can't give his best on such pitch to pull out,” Amodu said in a TV programme on Supersports.

“We can't force any player, we only need those players who will give their best."

"The game against Congo is very important for us and it will determine if we are going to qualify or not," he added.

Some Super Eagles players are averse to playing on synthetic pitches, with John Obi Mikel the most notable name.
