Reports are starting to spread that former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo has blatantly refused to endorse the presidential ambitions of APC candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari.
In addition to this, the party is worried about the animosity between Buhari and Babangida, and in a recent interview, Buhari did say he was unhappy that Babangida brought an end to his military regime.
According to Point Blank News, however, the reason for the refusal may be connected to a report by the Interim Management Committee of the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF).
According to the report, the PTF under Buhari was poorly managed.
APC sources say when Bola Tinubu visited him in Abeokuta, Obasanjo specifically told the APC not to field an 'unclean vessel' (and it was taken to mean he was referring to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.)
He had promised Tinubu that their candidate would have his blessings, "“but weeks after Buhari emerged Baba has avoided him, and has not accepted the request that the party brings Buhari and Osinbajo to his house, it is very troubling” according to an APC source.
"We don’t know the game he is playing. He tells us Goodluck Jonathan must be stopped, he maligns him and his administration daily, but last Saturday he appears at his daughter’s wedding. we don’t understand him. it is like he is bargaining and playing safe with Jonathan, if he wins,” a member of the APC presidential campaign team said.
