On Monday, Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno narrowly escaped death when Nigerian soldiers ‘mistakenly’ opened fire on his convoy as it approached a military garrison near the airport.
According to SAHARA REPORTERS, Governor Shettima was on his way to visit soldiers, who were wounded in the simultaneous Boko Haram attacks on Maiduguri, Monguno and Kodunga when the incident happened.
Security sources claim the Governor did not not notify military sources about his intended visit.
No one was injured during the incident and the Governor reportedly returned back to the government house unruffled.
