According to the Vanguard newspaper, it is believed that the President of Chad, Idriss Deby, may have taken the Federal Government of Nigria 'for a ride' over the phantom ceasefire deal with Boko Haram.

Vanguard newspaper quotes TheCable as saying that the Federal Government is now trying to ascertain whether the phony deal was sold deliberately by Deby to Nigeria or if the Chadian president himself had also been deceived into believing it was genuine.

"Déby was said to be working for Boko Haram as he has refused to communicate with Nigeria since the insurgents renewed their attacks," Vanguard reports on Monday morning.

“Nigerian government officials no longer have access to Déby, who is now said to be sick. It appears he set us up to drop our guard and allow Boko Haram to gain ground,” the official said.
