CNN is going to pull the plug on Piers Morgan Live after only three years because the show isn’t gaining traction with the viewers, consistently being beaten in ratings by its competitors.

“CNN confirms that ‘Piers Morgan Live’ is ending. The date of the final program is still to be determined,” CNN’s statement read.

Piers Morgan is yet to respond to a request for comments.

Apparently, the cable network is struggling, a distant number three to Fox News Channel and MSNBC, and the news channel’s boss Jeff Zucker has come under serious pressure to turn the fortunes of the network around. Apparently, one of such changes will be the shutting down of “Piers Morgan Live”, which has sunk to some of its lowest ratings ever lately.

The date of the final airing of Piers Morgan Live is yet to be determined. Piers Morgan took over from Larry King, who retired in 2011.

L.A. Times observed that M/organ’s views often put him in the line of fire. His opinion on gun control aggravated his viewers, and there was the issue of the awkward interview with author Janet Mock, one which cost him the love of the transgender community.

Last Thursday, “Piers Morgan Live” got just 360,000 views, dismal compared to Fox News’ “The Kelly File” (with 1.9 million views) and MSNBC’s “Rachel Maddow Show (with 925,000 views).
