Blessing Okagbare led the chase as more Nigerians on Sunday qualified for the latter stages of the Athletics event at the ongoing 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The Nigerian ladies replicated the feat of their male counterparts who all made the semifinals of the 100m event, with two of the female athletes: Okagbare and Gloria Asumnu both booking their passage into Monday's semifinal race.

As was expected Okagbare showed why she is a major contender for a medal in the sprints, winning heat 4 by 11.20seconds,although she didn't seem to have pushed herself too much for the win.

Asumnu confirmed her participation in the semis when she finished in second position behind Jamaican sprinter,Veronica Campbell- Brown.

Justina Sule however couldn't qualify for the semis after failing to secure a spot in the top two spots to go through.

Meanhwhile all the female Nigerian athletes who entered for the 400meters,all confirmed qualifications into the semis.

Regina George(53.92) Omolara Omotosho(53.02 seconds) Folashade Abugan(52.84) would all be competing in Monday's semifinal meet at Hampden park, hoping to at least finish in the medal zone.
