ACCRA - The PUNCH newspaper has reported that in Ghana's capital, the people are tearing down PDP and APC campaign posters following an order from the country's (Ghana's) national security agency.

According to the reports, this decision was arrived at following fears that the country may become indirectly involved in Nigeria's politics, an unwanted situation given the Boko Haram menace rocking Nigeria.

GhanaWeb says that a security expert at a Kofi Anan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, Dr. Kwesi Annin, stated that Ghana had saved itself from Boko Haram attacks by taking down Buhari/GEJ billboards posted in parts of Accra.

He said: “I think it is critical that the National Security and Accra Metropolitan Assembly have listened to the concerns and voices raised by ordinary citizens that these billboards and some level of active political engagement might pose potential threat in the future.”

He also stated that apart from the notion of a terrorist attack, it was tricky allowing foreign politics a stronghold in Ghana, and that if it appeared that Ghana was favoring a candidate over another in the forthcoming elections, inter-country relations may become strained after the polls.
