Sports Former Super Eagles Goalkeeper Wilfred Agbonavbare Passes Away

Former Nigerian goalkeeper Wilfred Agbonavbare has died after his battle with cancer.

Agbonavbare was critically ill and admitted in a hospital in Florida, USA in a bid to combat the ailment.

However he passed away early on Tuesday morning at the hospital in Alcalá.

His former Spanish club, Rayo Vallecano raised 21,106.90 Euros which they handed out to his family, believed to have helped facilitated the travel arrangements for his three sons to see him at his dying bed.

"The Rayo Vallecano family and fans are in mourning. Cancer has taken Wilfred away from us this morning", the club said on their official Twitter account.

He was a member of the Nigerian team that won the 1994 African Nations Cup title in Tunisia.
