Even as the Gani Fawehimi Memorial Organization is making plans for the fifth year commemoration of the late Gani Fawehimi, his widow, Ganiyat Fawehimi has said her husband saw terrorism coming:
AS activist get ready to mark the five years anniversary of the death of the late foremost human rights activist and Lagos Lawyer, Gani Fawehinmi, SAN, his widow, Ganiyat Fawehinmi, yesterday, said his late husband, foresaw the current Boko Harem insurgency confronting Nigeria before he died.
The late activist died on September 5th, 2009.
Ganiyat, speakin at a briefing ahead of the annual three-day memorial programme for the late activist, said “I remember that before my husband died, he warned that if we do not consider issues of insecurity in the country, the country will soon begin to experience bomb blast daily.
”Then people castigated him but today, we are in it. I do not think there is no week we did not hear cases of bomb blast. If they had heeded my husband at that time, we would not be experiencing insurgency at the moment. This was one of the issues he raised before his death. Look at the case of the Chibok girls, who were yet to be rescued and several bomb blasts that had occurred in the country.”
