Nigeria's Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, has revealed details of the fire incident at his house.
According to reports, there had been a fire incident at Kachikwu's house in Abuja on Monday. However, the minister, in a statement said "it was nothing serious."
“It was a mere power surge that was contained immediately,” Mr. Kachikwu’s spokesperson, Idang Alibi, said in the statement.
According to him, no one was hurt during the incident, which he said occurred between Sunday night and Monday morning. He blamed the fire on a faulty electric cable in his principal’s bedroom.
“No foul play was suspected in the fire incident,” he added.
