James Barka, former speaker of the Adamawa state assembly has stepped out of the Adamawa Governorship.

NATIONAL MIRROR reported that Barka who had been cleared by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP screening committee said he was stepping down for the acting governor of the state, Ahmadu Fintiri.

Barka described Fintiri as "one to lead the state into its renaissance, in view of his accomplishment in so short a space of time in office".

Speaking on further on the acting Governor's role in impeaching former Governor Murtala Nyako, Barka said,"It was not a small matter to impeach a governor.”

"We tried it but couldn’t succeed. So we must give it to this young man who together with his colleagues helped remove an evil from off our neck. I see him now as a mentor".
