World football governing body, FIFA has voted James Rodriguez's first strike in Colombia's 2-0 victory over Uruguay as the best goal of the Brazil 2014 World Cup tournament.

Rodriguez scored a spectacular volley, controlling the ball with his chest before belting it beyond Fernando Muslera in goal for Uruguay.

Robin Van Persie's stunning header that leveled for Netherlands in their 5-1 drubbing of Spain was voted the second best goal.

Rodriguez finished the World Cup as the highest goalscorer with six goals, which automatically shot up his value, with Spanish giants Real Madrid expected to complete his €88 million move to their club from Monaco on Wednesday.

The 22-year old was pictured arriving in Madrid on Sunday to complete the transfer move from Monaco.
