Noah.jpg Chicago Bulls centre, Joakim Noah has been announced as the National Basketball Association's Defensive Player of the Year on Monday, a feat achieved from the same franchise as Michael Jordan since 1998.

Noah led the defense of the Bulls against opponents recording a league-low 91.8 points per game during the current campaign.

He won 555 points out of the 1125 points, which included 100 first position votes from 125 sportswriters and broadcasters in United States and Canada.

Indiana Pacers' Roy Hibbert and Los Angeles Clippers' DeAndre Jordan with 166 and 121 points respectively finished second and third in the same order.

Averaging career highs of 12.6 points, 11.3 rebounds and 5.4 assists, Noah charged the Bulls to fourth position in the Eastern Conference with a 48-34 record in the 2013-14 regular season.
