The Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) have denied reports that they mandated Super Eagles coach,Stephen Keshi to compulsorily present a 35-man provisional list for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Speculation was rife that Keshi was directed by the NFF to come up with a 35-man list, with reports that the coach himself wants just a 30-man list.

Keshi is due to appear before the NFF next week to defend his World Cup list as well as putting finishing touches to their preparations for the tournament.

“To the best of my knowledge, there is nothing like a directive for him (Keshi) to present 35 players for camping. If he does that, that’s his choice. Nobody is putting him under pressure to invite as many players,” a member of the NFF technical committee told the Punch.

“Keshi’s assistant, Daniel Amokachi, came around (to the NFF office) recently, we reminded him there was no time left, that they have to begin whatever programme they have on ground.”

The NFF also denied reports that they were imposing the recall of some estranged players back into the team.

“Inasmuch as some of us feel like some players deserve to be in the team and some don’t, nobody is forcing Keshi to include certain players; we can only advise him and make input on how to make the team stronger.”
