Nigeria's Super Falcons have qualified for the finals of the African Women's Championship after beating South Africa 2-1 in their semifinal game played at the Sam Nujoma Stadium, Namibia.
The Super Falcons with their victory over South Africa, became the first African team to qualify for next year's FIFA Women's World Cup tournament taking place in China.
It was some revenge of sort for the Nigerian girls, who atoned for their loss to the Bayana Bayana two years ago in the AWC, at this same stage of the competition.
Asisat Oshoala proved how valuable she can be for the Super Falcons, putting up yet another stellar performance for Nigeria, scoring the two goals that made the difference for her team.
Prior to the game, Nigeria have been the only team yet to drop any points in their previous three matches played in the group stages.
And they carried their dominance into the game against South Africa, dominating from start to finish .
Oshoala scored the first of her two goals in the 38th minute, finding the net after a tenancious effort.
And in the 45th minute, she added a second goal, trying a long range shot from distance which sailed straight into the net .
There was no denying which team had the upper hand, the Super Falcons had the South Africans pegged where they wanted them, in their defence.
However in the 67th minute, Nompumelelo Nyandeni reduced the deficit, scoring a goal to give South Africa hope.
But the goal was a contentious one, with a Nigerian defender appearing to have headed the ball off the line, however the referee pointed to the centre circle.
The Super Falcons were not deterred, seeing off the win to berth in the finals where they will meet either Ivory Coast or Cameroon.
Nigeria is the most successful nation in this competition, and the Super Falcons would be hoping to reclaim the title in the finals on Saturday.
