The Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo in a statement has said that the Federal Government was considering fast-tracking power generation through embedded power.

The statement said less emphasis would be on the national grid for supply to small cluster of end users and industries located in the same area with this development.

According to the statement, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is considering an intervention similar to the carbon credit scheme already developed in some countries.

The statement noted that currently, nothing was on ground as a form of incentive to those interested in embedded power generation.

It said that government was desirous of encouraging companies with excess power that could be used as embedded generation.

The statement further denounced the unpatriotic acts of pipeline vandals, describing their actions as pure sabotage.

It said that government was now set to use digital system to counter pipeline vandalism, adding that it was collaborating with all security agencies in the years ahead in tackling these criminals.
