Nigeria’s senate president, Bukola Saraki has revealed that the senate has directed the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to suspend increase of electricity tariff.
Saraki, on his twitter timeline said the move became necessary because an increase in cost without improvement in service delivered is unacceptable.
“Today, the 8th Senate directed the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to immediately suspend the February 1st, 2016 tariff hikes, which are estimated to be upwards of 40 per cent,” Saraki said.
