Sports Nigerian weightlifter Chika Amalaha fails a doping test at the Commonwealth Games

Sixteen-year old Nigerian Weightlifter Chika Amalaha has failed a doping test at the ongoing 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow,Scotland.

Amalaha had on Friday won a gold medal in the women's 53Kg weightlifting event,but after being tested following the feat,the Nigerian was found to have doped.

Chief executive of the Commonwealth Games Federation,Mike Hooper revealed on Tuesday that the Nigerian teenager tested positive for diuretics and masking agents.

Amalaha's B sample will be tested tomorrow after her A sample revealed traces of the banned substances.

At the last Commonwealth Games in New Delhi,two other Nigerians tested positive to banned substances,Damola Osayemi and Folashade Abugan which led to the withdrawal of the medals they won.

If Amalaha's B sample turns out to be positive,she will be stripped of the gold medal she won last week.
