The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) expelled its 2023 presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, for failing to appear before its disciplinary committee. This decision was made by the NNPP's National Executive Committee, and the expulsion takes immediate effect.

Kwankwaso had previously been suspended during the NNPP's National Convention on August 29 for alleged gross anti-party activities and mismanagement of campaign funds. In response, the party's National Executive Council established a disciplinary committee, which invited Kwankwaso to defend himself. However, his refusal to appear before the committee led to his expulsion.

Abdulsalam Abdulrasaq, the acting National Publicity Secretary of NNPP, stated that Kwankwaso's expulsion also includes reporting him to appropriate authorities for questions related to financial impropriety regarding the mismanagement of public funds.

The NNPP has been facing internal conflicts, with its crisis escalating when the faction loyal to Kwankwaso announced the suspension of the party's founder, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, and the National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Agbo Major, on August 24
