Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) students in Ile Ife have on Friday expressed their irritation over the fact that President Jonathan's visit to the institution has resulted in 'unfavorable conditions.'

President Jonathan is currently attending a conference with the South-West traditional rulers and politicians at OAU, Punch is reporting.

The students complain that since President Jonathan arrived, public buses have been stopped from entering the school and majority of students have to trek long distances to their examination halls.

Some students carried placards which read 'Thief!' and hurled insults at the politicians that arrived at the Oduduwa hall where the meeting was holding.

The student are especially irritated because they believe the president and other leaders are in the school to endorse GEJ for 2015, in spite of what they described as “his failure to develop the educational sector.”

One student, identified as Israel, said: “This is ‎rubbish. Is the president or politics more important than our lives? How will they subject us to this kind of suffering. Buses were denied entrance and we have to start trekking.”

Another said: “All in the name of presidential visit, all activities are put on hold. We can’t do anything. They should not have brought this kind of meeting here. They should know OAU students don’t like oppressors. ‎They have the guts to come here after increasing our school fees exorbitantly.”
