Sports Olympics: Bolt unhappy with reports about the 200m event at risk of being scrapped

Usain Bolt has criticised reports that the 200m event could be one of the sprint events to be taken off the Olympics' calender.

The six-time Olympic champion argued that the 200m event is one of the highlights of the Olympics, and found it ridiculous that it is being talked about as a sport to be scrapped off.

An article from Australia’s Fairfax Media earmarked the 200m as one of the five sports at risk of being taken off.

Last week, the The International Olympic Committee(IOC) met to resolve some reforms that they want to adopt in their activities.

“Normally I’m not a controversial person, but I think that’s just stupid. Personally, track and field is the highlight of the Olympics every edition, that’s not even a question,”Bolt told Reuters.

“So when you’re going to try to take events away from the track and field event, it is just ridiculous and I don’t think the IAAF should stand for that at all.”
