PDP Gubernatorial candidate in the Osun state 2014 elections, Senator Iyiola Omisore has written a letter to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) demanding N500m as damages.

The anti-graft agency on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 issued a statement on its Facebook page, declaring the former deputy governor wanted.

Omisore’s lawyer, Chief Chris Uche (SAN) also accused EFCC of resorting to cheap blackmail and character assassination.

The Senator’s letter which was obtained from PUNCH reads:

“We are informed that the publication is not just malicious but falsehood in all respect.

“Our client has not refused to make himself available to the commission but rather has proceeded to the court to seek protection of the court when he perceived that the invitation was a deliberate ploy to unlawfully arrest and detain him.

“Consequently, we have our client’s instruction to request for a retraction of the offensive publication along with the payment of N500m damages occasioned by the publication to our client within seven days of this letter.

“Please take notice that if our client’s demands are not met within seven days as requested, we shall be constrained to institute a civil proceedings against your commission and its Head, Media and Publicity for aggravated damages which certainly shall not be limited to N500m.”

Senator Omisore was accused of allegedly collecting N700m as payment for a contract from former National Security Adviser(NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki.
