Mr Ayo Olumoko, the Chief Consultant on the Osun-Osogbo festival, says the event will still hold on Friday inspite of the fears being expressed over the outbreak of the Ebola Virus Disease.

Olumoko told newsmen on Thursday in Osogbo that a restriction order placed by the state government only affected those travelling into the country.

Mr Sunday Akere, the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, had on Friday announced the restriction order.

The consultant said the restriction order informed the low-key celebration of the festival, adding that the grande finale would still hold on Friday.

Olumoko, who said the restriction order was part of measures to check the spread of the Ebola disease, added that the event would be a celebration of a people’s culture.

He recalled that the death of the Ataoja of Osogbo two weeks to the festival in 2010 similarly threatened it, adding that the event still held inspite of the monarch’s demise.

The consultant, however, said the outbreak of the Ebola disease would not curtail a people’s resolve to associate with one another.
