President Goodluck Jonathan and the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II on Thursday repaired their strained relationship.

The relationship between the duo became strained after Sanusi relentlessly accused the government of diverting funds, forcing the President to suspend him from his position as Chairman of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

According to PREMIUM TIMES, the emir reportedly initiated peace moves, and the two men met for the first time in July during the breaking of the Muslim fast, a yearly routine in which the president meets top government officials who are Muslims and other prominent Islamic leaders in the country.

The president and the emir later met privately for about 15 minutes.

PUNCH reported that a Presidency source, who pleaded anonymity, said "Sanusi during his visit to the President today(Thursday) apologised to the President. He actually told the President that all his previous actions against him (the President) were based on misinformation.

"He then promised that going forward, he would be supporting the President and the present administration".
