Oladipo Diya, a retired general of the Nigerian army who was once accused of coup plotting, in a recent interview with PUNCH talked about the Sani Abacha Regime and how he escaped death.
Dipo was once second in command in Military heirachy when he served as Chief of Defence Staff.
When asked about the coup he purportedly plotted, Diya said, "If you say I planned a coup, I will order your arrest. Everybody, including the news media, knew and they all described it as a phantom coup. I don’t want to go into details of all that, but I thank God that even though men had their judgement, that of God was supreme.".
