Sports Stephen Keshi back as Super Eagles coach

Reports have surfaced on Thursday morning that Stephen Keshi has come back to manage the Super Eagles national team.

Keshi was two weeks ago laid off by the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) after some dismal outing in the 2015 African Nations Cup qualifiers, with Amodu Shaibu brought in to manage the remaining two games in the qualifiers.

Media officer of the Super Eagles, Toyin Ibitoye broke the news about the return of Keshi to the national team, posting on his twitter page: "Keshi Returns as @NGSuperEagles Coach."

There has been mixed feelings over the decision to lay off Keshi as the Eagles coach, with the NFF president Amaju Pinnick at one point claiming that Keshi was sacked in order to "save his life."

It is not certain what informed the return of Keshi to the Super Eagles, whether government officials prevailed on the NFF to reinstate Keshi and give him a new deal.

Yesterday, President Goodluck Jonathan had a meeting with Pinnick, although the details of the meeting was not made public, though it is believed to have hinged on the controversies surrounding the leadership tussles at the federation.
