Sports Super Eagles update: 17 players now in camp; Mikel arrives with protective gloves (Ebola)

John Obi Mikel has arrived the camp of the Super Eagles ahead of the 2015 Nations Cup qualifiers against Congo DR and South Africa.

Seven other players alongside the Chelsea midfielder also arrived today to the national team camp in Calabar,as they commence their training sessions for the games.

But it was Mikel who caught the attention, coming into camp with protective gloves, apparently joking about the epidemic Ebola Virus disease in the country.

It is not clear how long Mikel would wear the gloves, possibly a one-off just to lighten the mood in camp.

A total of seventeen players are now in camp, with more expected later today and possibly tomorrow.

Chinedu Ogbuke Obasi is yet to secure clearance from his German club,Schalke 04 to team up with Nigeria.

Meanwhile Stephen Keshi replaced Vincent Enyeama who withdrew yesterday with Elkanemi keeper, David Obiazor.

Ahmed Musa,Ogenyi Onazi, Efe Ambrose,Kenneth Omeruo,Juwon Oshaniwa,Omatsone Aluko and Austin Ejide are the other players who made their entry into camp today.

Ejide is expected to captain the team in the absence of Enyeama as the most senior player in the team.
