Speaker of the House of representatives, Aminu Tambuwal on Monday petitioned the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Ndahi Auta, to stop Justice Evoh Chukwu from hearing his case.
Speaker of the House of Representatives Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has petitioned the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Ndahi Auta, to assign a case brought before Justice Evoh Chukwu to another judge.
A member of the House, Rep Isiaq Abiodun Akinlade (PDP, Ogun) had filed a suit in the Justice Auta court seeking interpretation of Section 68 (g) of the constitution on the legality of Tambuwal’s defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and possibly vacate his office as a lawmaker.
Consequently, the case was assigned to Justice Chukwu who had presided over and ruled on similar cases earlier this year.
But Tambuwal, in a petition dated November 30 and addressed to Justice Auta, appealed to the Chief Judge to re-assign the case to another judge as he does not have confidence in Justice Chukwu.
