Sports US Open update: Djokovic and Serena Williams through to the last 8

rsz_djokovic.jpg Novak Djokovic has booked his place in the last eight of the US Open Grand Slam tournament after defeating Philipp Kohlschreiber in their second round match.

The Serb had no difficulty seeing off the German whom he beat in straight sets 6-1 7-5 6-4 to go through.

The world number one will now play against Andy Murray,who saw off the challenge of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 7-5 7-5 6-4.

Meanwhile in the Women's draw, Serena Williams overpowered Kaia Kanepi in just one hour and five minutes winning in straight sets 6-3 6-3.

The 32-year old will now play against Italy's Flavia Pennetta, who defeated Australian Casey Dellacqua 7-5 6-2.

"I never thought it would be so exciting," Serena said.

"Yeah! It feels good. Obviously I don't want this to end. But I'm just happy that I'm able to be performing a little better at the end of the year."

Also through to the next is Victoria Azarenka who defeated Aleksandra Krunic 4-6 6-4 6-4.
