Nigerian and Cameroonian troops were yesterday involved in a rift over who killed Abubakar Shekau, Boko Haram leader.

It will be recalled that yesterday, it was the Cameroonian Army (Armee Camerounaise) that made the photos of the dead man public, along with a statement that it killed the man during a cross-border raid deep within Nigerian borders.

A Cameroon military source reiterated that Shekau was killed after an aerial bombardment of his hideout inside Nigeria.

The Nigerian army, however, is making the same claim, but they have provided no photographic evidence to prove that. The DHQ says its soldiers might have killed Shekau in Konduga.

The DHQ, on Twitter, said: “there was no raid whatsoever in any part of Nigeria’s territory in pursuit of terrorists as claimed in some reports allegedly quoting Cameroon military authorities.
