President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government has secured the release of 82 Chibok high school girls who were abducted in mid-April 2014.

The abduction of the Chibok schoolgirls triggered a global outcry and sparked a huge social media campaign.

Before the latest release, about 195 of the girls were still missing.

Sources told Sahara Reporters that latest release of Chibok girls involved prisoner exchange.

No official words from the federal government yet but, Senator Shehu Sani, who was part of the first negotiation said “only authority to confirm the release of the Chibok girls is the Federal government. However, credible negotiations took place”.
