16 royal guards have reportedly been killed in Morocco after their bus plunged into a ravine. More than 40 other royal guards were injured in the crash.

8 out of 40 injured royal guards are said to be in critical condition.

The crash occurred near al-Hoceima in Morocco. The guards were travelling north to prepare for a visit by King Mohammed VI.

According to the Moroccan news agency ,MAP, the bus had fallen into a 200-metre (656ft) ravine on the road between Tetouan and al-Hoceima but that the cause of the crash was not yet known.
