Sports 2014 AWC: We will beat South Africa- Super Falcons coach Edwin Okon

Super Falcons head coach Edwin Okon has assured Nigerians that they are battle ready for their semi final clash against South Africa.

Nigeria will clash against South Africa on Wednesday, with both teams battling to make the finals which will seal an automatic qualification for next year's FIFA Women's World Cup tournament in Canada.

The Falcons topped Group A with 100% record on nine points while the 2012 AWC finalists finished as runners-up in Group B behind leaders, the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon.

Okon said his side are angry as well as hungry and will certainly punish the South Africans for the 2012 AWC semifinal defeat in Equatorial Guinea.

"We're angry, hungry and won't allow ourselves to be beaten twice by the South Africans at same stage of the championship.

"We must win the clash as it is quite important to our qualification for the World Cup in Canada.

"We want to reclaim the AWC title we lost to Equatorial Guinea in 2012 and head to the World Cup as champions.

"We've achieved 100% record in our group matches but the tie against South Africa is the most crucial game; we must win to re-establish our superiority over the Southern African side.

"The players are 100% in shape and raring to punish South Africa for last championship loss," said the former Falconets and Rivers Angels head coach to supersport.com.
