SEEMING crisis between the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and his home state governor, Sullivan Chime, has taken a new dimension, following an impeachment notice issued the deputy governor, Sunday Onyebuchi, by the state House of Assembly on Tuesday.
It was gathered that although both Senator Ekweremadu and Governor Chime were yet to make their senatorial ambitions public, the renewed rivalry between the duo had continued to grow, as there were insinuations by some members of the public that the plot to remove the deputy governor might not be unconnected to his perceived loyalty to Ekweremadu.
The Nigerian Tribune learnt that pro-Governor Chime’s group was raising the alarm that the subterranean move by the deputy governor to contest the Enugu-East Senatorial Seat in 2015 could mar the chances of the Chief of Staff, Government House, Mrs Ifeoma Nwobod from realising her senatorial dream.
