The National Coalition for Jonathan/Sambo Presidency, has called on the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) to grant President Goodluck Jonathan an automatic ticket to re-contest the presidency in 2015.

Dr Benjamin Irikefe, the National Coordinator of the coalition made the call in Abuja on Wednesday while presenting the coalition`s request letter to the PDP NWC.

"We want to call on you to convene an emergency meeting of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the PDP. To take a unanimous decision to grant President Goodluck Jonathan an automatic ticket to contest the presidential election come 2015, whenever he declares his intention.

Irikefe said that the call became necessary as the conduct of any presidential primary by the PDP ahead of the 2015 would be a total waste of time and recourses.

He added that such exercise would also be a distraction as Jonathan was bound to win such primaries because of his sterling performance in spite of obvious challenges.

The coordinator said that the call for an automatic ticket for Jonathan by the coalition was premised on the fact that he had performed creditably well in all sectors of the economy.

According to him, there is no alternative to President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 as he has proven capacity and track records to prevent Nigeria from chaos, disintegration and monumental ruins.

Irikefe stated that the PDP BoT and the NWC should grant the coalition`s request as a patriotic and national service to the country.

Youths from the six geo-political zones of the federation made up the coalition.

Irikefe also thanked the PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu`azu, for the cooperation he had given to the president since his emergence.

According to him, this has transcended into the actualisation of the imports of the transformation agenda under the President Jonathan`s administration.

Responding, Prof. Wale Oladipo, the PDP National Secretary who received the coalition on behalf of the party`s NWC, promised to convene its request letter to the national and BoT chairmen.

Oladipo said that as a representative of the south-west in the PDP NWC, he was on the same page with the coalition.
