A group from Abia Central Senatorial zone, has presented the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nomination and expression of intent forms for the 2015 senatorial race to Governor Theodore Orji of Abia.

The group comprises mainly transition committee chairmen of the six local government areas that make up the senatorial zone.

The forms were presented to the governor at the Government House, Umuahia on Tuesday night.

Speaking on behalf of others, Chairman of Umuahia North Local Government Area, Mr Iyke Nwoke, said the gesture was to demonstrate the support of the various wards that constitute the zone.

‘"We came here on the mandate of our people, who have in various ways recognised and appreciated your landmark achievements in empowering the people and overall transformation of the state,’’ Nwoke said.

He explained that after due consultations by the Umunneato people in Umuahia and Ngwaland, they reached a consensus that the forms be purchased and presented to him.

"You have put food on the table of many families, you have reduced poverty in many homes and there is nothing we can offer you in return than to further urge you to represent us in the Senate in 2015. We have not seen anybody else who the cap fits in Abia Central; besides you are a generous and peace-loving governor, ‘’ the chairman said.

He said that Orji had moved Abia ‘’from grass to grace,’’ adding that he had laid the foundation for sustainable development of the state for his successors.

Responding, Orji thanked the group for the gesture, describing it as ‘’a historic event’’ and an expression of their wishes for him in concrete terms.’’
