Tension brewed up as some members of the House of Representatives are threatening a showdown if any of the changes President Muhammadu requested in the 2016 budget is left out, Daily Trust has gathered.

About 100 lawmakers of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) met Tuesday night and took a decision on the matter, sources told Daily Trust.

The lawmakers are demanding that all the projects inserted by the chairman of the appropriation committee Rep Abdulmumin Jibrin (APC, Kano) be removed.

One of the lawmakers who attended the late-night meeting said that they would not allow a situation where some “selfish members” would be executing projects in their constituencies, while others would have nothing to do.

“So, what we decided last night that all the changes requested by the president must be effected to the letter; none should be left out, if not, we’re ready for a showdown, if that is what this will lead to,” said the lawmaker.
