The National Coordinator of the People’s Democratic Party Renaissance Group; a group of patriots in the party, Chief Chyna Iwuanyanwu, has disclosed in a press release that it will send a high profile delegation to woo back former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other prominent leaders who left the party.
Chief Chyna, who is an admirer of the former Vice President, said Atiku had no business in the APC since his ambition is being threatened in the party.
While appreciating the circumstance which compelled Atiku's exit from PDP, Chief Chyna stated that with the olive branch being waved and the magnanimity of the present leadership of the PDP, the coast has been cleared for Atiku’s triumphant return.
“Vice President Atiku Abubakar has been in political wilderness, in a strange land, co habiting with strange bird fellows who are ideologically incompatible with his patriotic vision for Nigeria and his democratic antecedents and credentials.”
"With the recent resolution of the crisis that recently consumed the PDP, the leaders and members have learned a great lesson and are totally committed to bringing the party back to the vision of the founding fathers, one of whom is Atiku"
"I am satisfied by the resolve of the leadership of PDP to stamp out impunity, imposition, godfatherism and lack of internal democracy which were at the centre of the crisis that led to a disastrous outing in the 2015 elections."
He noted that PDP Renaissance Group was a party patriots who came together to embark on advocacy against injustice, imposition and the hijack of the party and the National political space by those he described as “Pharaohs” in the party. He stated that the founding members of the Renaissance Group were all victims and casualties of the 2008, 2012 and 2013 primaries, congresses and conventions.
Iwaunyanwu stated that the PDP Renaissance Group has been vindicated by the policy thrust of the Caretaker Committee and commended Senator Ahmed Markarfi for giving the party a purpose driven leadership which has enabled us to navigate the storm.
He confirmed that members of the group are totally in support of the reconciliation initiative and open door policy of the leadership of the party and stated that “Concrete steps must be taken to reach out to aggrieved parties to heal the wound the past”.
He stated that the PDP Renaissance Group will be leading a high profile delegation to the former Vice President and other eminent leaders who left the party and brought it on its knees, warning that “under no circumstances should PDP go back to Egypt”.
