A 37 year old developer, Ishola Salaudeen has been arraigned at the Ebute Meta Magistrate Court for allegedly duping at least 106 people of millions of naira. An angry mob assaulted a friend of the developer that they had identified as an accomplice of the fraudster. He was rescued by security guards.

The supposed tenants had converged at the said house at the instruction of Salaudeen, and were shocked to discover that the rooms had been occupied by other tenant. Salaudeen was said to have collected sums ranging from N180,000 to N1m for a property from the complainants, many of whom paid into his bank account.

He was arraigned on 211 counts of receiving money under false pretences and theft. It took over two hours before the two registrars could finish reading the charge sheet that ran up to 70 pages. Salaudeen pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him.
