Three men were sentenced by an Abuja Upper Area Court in Karu, on Friday, to two weeks in prison each for dangerous driving and traffic obstruction within the city centre.

The convicts, Harrison Okonji, Friday Onowu and Anayo Nwanneri were sentenced by the judge after they pleaded guilty to the charge, brought against them by the police.

The judge said the sentence would serve as a lesson to other commuters who disobey traffic laws thereby causing unnecessary traffic jam, especially during rush hours.

He said ``I hereby find you guilty as charged and send you to prison for a period of two weeks or pay N2,000 each as fine."

The prosecutor, Sgt. Dominic Joseph said the convicts drove their vehicles against traffic direction within the city centre and caused serious obstruction to flow of traffic contravening Section 28 cap 548 of the Road Traffic Acts.
