Metro 3 Killed, 18 Injured in Two Bauchi Auto Accidents

No fewer than three people were killed while eighteen others were injured in two car accidents along Alkaleri/Gombe road in Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi state.

The first accident which involved a commercial Toyota bus and a jeep occurred about 25 km from a village called Shafaru, around 12.28pm.

The second crash happened around 1.25pm, about 5km near a junction in Kirfi Local Government and it involved a commercial bus and a Honda Accord.

The state Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Mr. Sunday Henry Olatunji in charge of Bauchi unit command confirmed the accidents to newsmen.

He said that 33 persons, comprising of 14 males and 19 females were involved in the crashes.

“In the first crash, one of the drivers lost control of his vehicle and rammed into the other and there was a serious situation afterwards. While the second crash happened when the driver of the commercial bus attempted dodging a pothole and in the process, collided with the Honda accord vehicle” he said.

The deceased persons are yet to be identified and their corpses have been deposited at the morgue of the General Hospital in Kirfi General Hospital.
