A fight over the control of Biu, a town about 190 kilometers from Maiduguri broke out over the weekend between two rival vigilante youth groups resulting in 5 deaths.
The two groups were popularly called ‘Civilian JTF’ and seek to curtail the danger posed by Boko Haram in Borno state.
A witness Abdullahi Mohammed said, “The Civilian JTF in Biu asked those that came from Maiduguri to leave town because their presence was likely to cause more harm than good to residents of Biu town.”
He also said he saw five dead bodies before being rushed to the hospital and expressed ignorance as to where other bodies were deposited.
