The Lagos airport which is supposed to be the nation's flagship was fashioned after the design of Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam. While Schiphol Airport has undergone a series of changes in terms of structure, facilities, and space, the Lagos airport still remains a one-terminal airport instead of the three terminals as proposed in the original design. Coupled with these, travelers still face a series of other problems at the Lagos airport as discussed in this article. Here are 5 common problems faced by travelers who transit via the Lagos airport.

High Air Fares
This is an area Nigerians need the Government to address. Airlines seem to distribute among the passengers, by their means of high air fares, their overall expense; the high operational cost that they incur as a result of high cost of aviation fuel, taxes paid to government, and loses due to bad operations management practices.

Flights Delay
This features as another area travelers want solution to. The frustrating experience of having to sit for hours unending due to delayed, rescheduled, or canceled flights is another source for concern. It is a common knowledge that the Nigerian airlines do not see it as the passengers right to be updated about flight reschedules, and for that reason, they keep them in the dark until the final minute.

Bad Officials Services
Besides the high air fares and flight delays, the beggarly disposition of immigration officials as complained, is a source of worry to air travelers. Incidentally, the attitude of these immigration officials have deteriorated to a brazen level where travelers' documents can be withheld until tips are offered. This is very disappointing.

Poor Air Conditioning Systems

The air conditioning system at the lounge of the Lagos airport is quite discomforting. A frequent traveler once described it as a microwave oven, and this is the present state till date. Solutions should be provided as this speaks volume about Nigeria because the terminals are the first contact point with Nigeria to foreigners. The broken down escalators and untidy toilet facilities cannot also be left unmentioned.

Poor Infrastructures
Such is the situation at the Lagos airport; both domestic and international. The new terminal facilities are still being test-run, so to say, and as expected, various degrees of faults and abnormalities are springing up by the day. For example, the past rains have exposed the poor drainage systems.

These flaws need to be rectified as soon as possible in order to give the Lagos airport its due infrastructural shade and posture.
